NBfC has been tracking insurance companies (Payers) to see how they are managing coverage of breast pumps and lactation services in order to be in compliance with the ACA.
Many Payers don't yet have official policies in place (only approximately 20% of Payers have published policies) and the durable medical equipment providers that many Payers make patients go through for equipment were not ready for the demand for pumps.
But we’ve got things covered thanks to our real-time Payer Policy Database. The Wisconsin Breastfeeding Coalition will be beta testers before we open this up for general release. Stay tuned for this and for PAYER RANKINGS - which Payers are doing the right thing and which ones are failing? You’ll find out next month . . .
